🌼 The Calm Corner

A regular check-in for our anxious girls group and their parent/carers

Edition #8 - November 2025

Hello lovely people 💛

As the year starts to wind down and we step into the cosier months, we’re taking a moment to reflect on another month filled with connection, celebration, and a few extra sweet surprises. Whether you’re one of our incredible girls or a parent/carer supporting from the sidelines, this space is for you - to keep up with what’s been happening and know you’re always part of this growing community.

🎉 Celebrating One Year of Group Sessions!

In November, we marked one year of our weekly group sessions - and what a beautiful celebration it was.

We had a popcorn machine, candy floss, a hot chocolate station, cupcake decorating, games on the Switch, and lots of laughter around the table. Delicious food was kindly provided by Aairon from Food for Thought, and the wonderful Ruby, one of our girls, baked some gorgeous biscuits to share with everyone.

As if that wasn’t enough to fill our hearts, we (Shelley & Fay) were completely surprised with flowers and wine, gifted by the oldest and youngest members of the group - organised by one of our amazing team members with a secret collection from parents and the team. It was such a meaningful, emotional moment, and we’re so grateful. 💐

💛 A huge thank you to Take Me Taxis as well for their generous donation, which helped make the night extra special for the girls.

🧶 New! Crochet Corner

We now have a Crochet Corner in group! Some of our talented team members are offering to teach girls who want to learn how to crochet. It’s been a lovely, calming space - full of concentration, creativity, and plenty of yarn-based giggles. If your daughter is interested in joining, just let us know.

🏆 We’ve Been Nominated!

We’re incredibly proud to share that we’ve been named a finalist for SEND Organisation of the Year!

Thank you so much to everyone who put us forward -it means the world. We’re looking forward to hearing about all the other brilliant organisations supporting SEND families too. What an honour to be among them. 💛

🤝 Supporting SEND Families Together

This month we were part of the relaunch of the Solihull SEND Organisations Roundtable - bringing local SEND organisations together with a shared goal: to amplify the voices of SEND families and work towards positive, joined-up change.

We look forward to welcoming even more organisations at the next roundtable. There’s power in unity, and we’re excited to keep pushing for progress together.

🍫 Baking Moments & Thoughtful Gestures

A special shoutout to Millie, one of our lovely girls, who made the most delicious chocolate shortbread biscuits for everyone to enjoy during craft time - and even took the time to write out all the ingredients for us. What a kind and thoughtful gesture!

🫶 Volunteer Role – Wednesdays (4:30–7pm)

We’re still looking for a warm, reliable volunteer to join us on Wednesday evenings to help with crafts, games, and social time. The role also includes some light setting up and packing away.

If you love working with young people in a calm, friendly setting - we’d love to hear from you!

❄️ Festive Vibes Incoming!

As we step into the festive season, you might notice a little something extra... We’ve added a sprinkle of snow to our website to make things feel a bit more magical!

❄️✨ Head over and take a peek - it’s beginning to look a lot like December...

🌼 Kind Reminder

You don’t have to do everything or be everything to everyone. Just showing up - however you are - is enough.

You’re doing better than you think.

💬 Thought of the Month

"Gratitude turns what we have into enough."

This season, we’re grateful for you - every quiet win, every brave step, every moment you chose to be here.

📍 Next Sessions

We’re here every Monday and Wednesday.

Craft bookings are available on the website, and cooking sessions are by email enquiry.

As always, you’re welcome just as you are.

🌼 The Calm Corner

A regular check-in for our anxious girls group and their parent/carers

Edition #7 - October 2025

Hey beautiful people 💛

Welcome to the October edition of The Calm Corner-and this one’s extra special. Why? Because this month marks one whole year of Liberty Circle! That’s one year of crafting, cooking, connecting, and creating a safe space where anxious girls can simply be themselves. We’re so proud of how far we’ve all come-and excited for everything still ahead.

Here’s a little look at what we’ve been up to this month, and what’s coming next…

🎉 One Year of Liberty Circle!

This month, we celebrate one full year of Liberty Circle supporting anxious girls to grow in confidence, make friends, and discover their strengths.

Over the past year, we’ve watched girls who once struggled to leave home now laughing, creating, and connecting-through the simple magic of craft, cooking, and community.

With gentle encouragement, a calm and safe space, and the support of amazing parents and carers, these girls have found something so important: belonging.

Here’s to a wonderful first year-and many more to come! 🥳

👩‍🍳 Goodbye (for now) to our Cooking Stars

We said a fond farewell to six amazing girls who completed their six-week cooking course with us this month. Watching their confidence grow, their friendships deepen, and their skills develop has been a joy.

We’re now excited to welcome the next six girls for this half-term’s sessions.

These sessions are fully funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, so families can access them completely free - something we’re incredibly grateful for.

Each girl who attends also gets to take home a special pack, including their own personalised apron, a recipe folder, and a set of Christmas cookie cutters - a huge thank you to John Lewis for kindly donating these!

We hope this helps the girls continue their love of baking at home too. 🍪💛

🫶 Volunteer Opportunity - Join Our Wednesday Team!

We’re on the lookout for a friendly, reliable volunteer to help support our Wednesday evening sessions (4:30–7:15 pm).

The role includes helping with crafts, group games, and social activities, as well as a bit of light set-up and pack-down.

If you’re calm, patient, and love the idea of being part of a warm and welcoming group that supports anxious girls-we’d love to hear from you!

👟 Volunteering with Every Pair Tells a Story

On Monday, we’ll be supporting the powerful campaign Every Pair Tells a Story - an initiative where families place pairs of children’s shoes outside the local authority to represent the many children who have been let down by the system.

We’ll be there on the day to offer a calm, compassionate presence and to support anyone who comes to lay shoes and share their story.

It’s an emotional, important event - and we’re honoured to stand alongside families as part of this movement for change. 💛

🌼 Kind Reminder

You’re doing better than you think. Growth isn’t always loud-sometimes it looks like simply showing up, trying again, or taking a breath. That’s still progress. That still counts.

💬 Thought of the Month

"Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life."

Keep going. Little by little.

📍 Next Sessions

We’re here every Monday and Wednesday.

Craft sessions can be booked via the website, and cooking group enquiries can be made by emailing us directly.

As always, we’re here to support your girls-and your family-in any way we can.

Just bring yourself-as you are. You belong here. 💛

🌼 The Calm Corner

A regular check-in for our anxious girls group and their parent/carers

Edition #6 - September 2025

Hey wonderful ones 💛

Welcome back to The Calm Corner! After a well-earned summer break, it’s been so lovely to return to group and see all your familiar faces and meet some new ones too. As always, this space is for both our amazing girls and their parent/carers, offering a little peek into what we’ve been up to, what’s coming up, and all the lovely moments in between.

September has been full of creativity, gentle progress, and a few exciting changes based on your feedback…

🌟 Group Highlights

🛠 Craft Sessions – With a Few Helpful Tweaks!

Thanks to feedback from our girls and input from our wonderful volunteer team, we’ve made some small changes to make craft time even better:

  • Optional name stickers for anyone who wants to wear one (no pressure at all!)

  • Clear, step-by-step instructions for each activity - so you can go at your own pace

  • A new Free Craft Table with donated and leftover supplies - perfect for spontaneous creativity!

🎨 September Crafts

The girls got hands-on with:

  • Decoupage heart boxes (so pretty!)

  • Fidget keyrings (a big hit!)

  • And of course... slime - a crowd favourite with the girls, even if the parents weren’t quite as thrilled 😄

🌍 A Special Craft with a Purpose

One of the most loved activities this month came from Ella, who is fundraising for a conservation trip to Tanzania in 2026. She created a “make your own fidget lanyard” station, which was adored by girls and parents! If you’d like to support her journey, you can check out her page here:

🏅 Nominate Liberty Circle for an Award!

We’ve been nominated for an award - and you can help us get there! If you believe in what we’re doing, we’d be so grateful if you took a moment to vote or share the link:

👑 Tea at the Mayor’s Parlour

A few of us were invited to the Mayor’s Parlour this month for a special visit - and some powerful conversations. The Mayor was genuinely interested in the work we’re doing and has even asked to visit our cooking group soon. We’re really looking forward to welcoming her and sharing more about the girls’ journeys.

👩‍🍳 Cooking Group Update

Our cooking sessions are going amazingly well. The girls began the term feeling quite anxious, but they’ve already started helping each other, encouraging new friends, and even playing games when they finish early.

This group is fully funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, which means families can access it completely free of charge - we’re so grateful to be able to offer this opportunity without cost to families.

We’ll be opening up a few new places for next half term - if you’re interested in your daughter joining, please email us directly to register your interest.

Watching the girls blossom in the kitchen continues to be one of our favourite parts of the week. 💛

🌼 Kind Reminder

Progress looks different for everyone. Whether you’ve taken a big step or just managed to show up - you’re doing so well. Be gentle with yourself.

💬 Thought of the Month

"You don’t have to do it all. Just do what you can - and that’s more than enough."

Little steps. Deep breaths. You’re doing great.

📍 Next Sessions

We’re back every Monday and Wednesday!

Session bookings are live on the website - please try to book early so we can plan and support everyone properly. And if you're interested in cooking group next half term, email us to ask about available places.

Just bring yourself - as you are. You belong here. 💛
